Toward Initiative #5 – Establish an internship program designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment.

·         Our company offers high school seniors and college students the opportunity to conduct their (required or voluntary) internship in radio broadcasting at our facilities.  Students are afforded the opportunity to learn basic broadcasting skills, equipment operations, basic FCC standards and requirements, along with news gathering, writing and producing.  Production techniques are also taught to student interns.  We also offer “job shadow” opportunities.

Toward Initiative #7 – Participate in scholarship programs directed at students desiring to pursue a career in broadcasting.

·         In January and February 2011, we promoted the IBA Scholarship Program by airing announcements on WILO and WSHW, and provided applications in the front office for interested high school and college students.

Toward Initiative #9 – Establish a mentoring program designed to enable station personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher-level positions.
